Answer by the ferrari man
Any business has a value. consider restructuring and then valuation. The following will influence your selling price.
1.The nature and history of the business.
2. The general economic outlook and its relation to the specific industry of the business under review.
3. The earnings capacity of the business.
4. The financial condition of the business and the book value of the ownership interest.
5. The ability of the business to distribute earnings to owners.
6. Whether or not the business has goodwill and other intangible assets.
7. Previous sales of ownership interests in the business and the size of ownership interests to be valued.
8. The market price of ownership interests in similar businesses that are actively traded in a free and open market, either on an exchange or over-the-counter

I wish to start a business supplying medical material – small stuff like bandaids to thermometers etc, required for functioning of hospitals. Is this a good time ?/ Will I get business laons ?? I have good credit. Should I wait till economy is better ??
Answer by gr8sk8rgold
The timing & economy are not the issue that will most affect your chosen business as medical supplies will always be in need. Have you truly done your research? Moreover, are you always in learning mode?
Most important, are you looking to base most or all of your business off of hospitals? If so, your business will likely fail. The reason is that the only companies that hospitals purchase products from are those that are on a specified list. There are many, many hospitals that refuse to have anyone even show medical devices, supplies, etc. if they’re not a rep from an approved company on the list. Purchasing items from other companies is not allowed. This is the most common practice for hospitals accross the country.
If you are going to supply nursing homes, etc., that would be a better bet until you’ve built a larger company and have been able to establish the necessary relationships at the the hospitals you wish to serve in the future.

Any scope of starting own business for a person having experience in IT infrastructure(voice and data) planning and designing.
Answer by silvaconsultants
Here in the United States, we have companies that specialize in the planning and design of telephone and data systems.
These consultants do not sell or install any equipment or cabling, but simply act as planners and designers. They typically work with architects, owners, and builders as they plan for telephone/IT systems in new and remodeled buildings. They produce plans and specifications for the telephone/data infrastructure, assist the owner in obtaining bids from qualified installation contractors, and observe the installation to assure that requirement of the specifications are being met.
Capital requirements for this type of business are usually fairly small and demand (at least here in the US) is fairly strong. The limiting factor appears to be the availability of qualified telephone/data designers.

WHAT I mean is the definition of investing is usually stocks and stuff so how does buying your own business fall into that category? or does it?
Answer by Ricky H
Anytime you put your money at ristk you are investing. I love the idea you can invest in yourself and start a business. You make all the profit. When you invest with bonds, stocks etc look at the commissions you pay they other guy for his”investing” for you. He uses someone’s company to invest your money so why not invest yourself in yourself. I did.

Was just reading about the Senate capping tax-deferred executive compensation at million to pay for the new round of handouts to businesses, and came up with an interesting concept.
It would seem to me that any business- big, small, incorporated or independent- at which an owner, executive or board member receives a compensation or severance package that exceeds million is in no need of any additional tax breaks. Certainly, any business in this category that claims they’ll have to cut jobs if the minimum wage is increased is lying; either they’re swimming in cash or the executives are getting ready to bail out. Any additional tax breaks will not see their way to creating any more positions or increasing the base salary level; they’ll just be funneled to those that are already millionaires. Why not pass legislation that, in addition to the proposal to cap tax-deferred earnings, would exclude any business that fits into this category from any additional tax relief or handouts?

I well understand your sentiment. JUST ASK YOUR SELF, HOW MUCH HAVE YOU GIVEN IN ACTUAL DOLLARS TO HELP A POLITICIAN ON ANY LEVEL GET INTO OFFICE IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS, TEN YEARS. If you are like most people the answer is less than 2% of our income.
The people you are complaining about are the ones that put their money to work. Start small help your councilman make a better neighborhood then expand from there. You will make a big difference, join us where the tires meet the road instead of screaming from the nose bleed seats.

Should I pay 2,000 a month for a building for my business or go into public schools rent free? The only bad thing about the public schools is that I have to carry my equipment around with me. This means wear and tear on my equipment and me. Also I’m having to spend alot of money on fuel to drive to and from the schools. Help!
Answer by Whats Up Doc
Pay the rent. People are leery of businesses that don’t have a permanent address. If you need to go to a school occassionally then do so. But you will come out further ahead with a permanent place.

Just need some advice on a system of invoice numbers. I started a small business and I need to create invoice numbers for my customers. Is there any science or system behind invoice numbers ??? How can they be coded so you can store built-in information ??? FYI – I have a small construction contractor business.
Answer by David Z
be careful not to try and do to much with one field. biggest thing is they need to be in chronological order. other fields have date, customer name so that information can be obtained some other way.
