I’m planning on a return to school. I’d like to get into the foodservice/ restaurant industry. The culinary arts program I’m looking at doesn’t seem to look at the business side. Would a marketing degree be a better way to go. Saddleback College has a good business dept, but I think I need to take my lumps in the kitchen to excel in the industry? Thoughts

You should look at other programs to see if they have a culinary program that has a business side.
If you have to pick take a marketing degree more options in case you want to change jobs.
good luck.

Of the liberal arts colleges that I’ve seen, 99% don’t have business majors. One had a pre-business major, but I don’t even know what that entails. I want a distinguished liberal arts college that will allow me to take a variety of courses and still work towards a business major with an emphasis on advertising or marketing.

If you decide to go to a university’s business school for example in an undergraduate program, are your courses confined to that business school or will you go to other courses on the university’s campus not in the business school? Carnige Mellon University is divided into six undergraduate colleges, if I go to the Tepper School of Business will I be stuck there? Will the core classes be confined to the Tepper school? Will I be able to take classes in other schools? Are the six colleges completely seperate or do they just house different classes?

I currently attend NYU-Stern as an undergrad and I’ve decided that it’s not really for me. I want to spend my undergraduate years studying liberal arts because I plan on pursuing an MBA anyway. Is it difficult transferring to a top liberal arts college from a business school like Stern? I’ve been looking at Amherst a lot and it seems like exactly what I want.

A pastry chef in Las Vegas hired me to create what I call a “web presence ” to help her advance in her chosen career. She asked me for suggestions that would help her leverage the power of Web 2.0 in her efforts to increase her professional exposure in a highly competitive industry. At the same time, she wanted to have fun teaching other people about her passion in life; cakes, tarts, pastry, and chocolate mousse.
