Should I pay 2,000 a month for a building for my business or go into public schools rent free? The only bad thing about the public schools is that I have to carry my equipment around with me. This means wear and tear on my equipment and me. Also I’m having to spend alot of money on fuel to drive to and from the schools. Help!
Answer by Whats Up Doc
Pay the rent. People are leery of businesses that don’t have a permanent address. If you need to go to a school occassionally then do so. But you will come out further ahead with a permanent place.

I own a small business and have been asked to make a donation for a silent auction fundraiser at a school. I don’t have any items to provide, but, would like to make a monetary donation. What would be an appropriate amount to give? Thanks in advance!

Quality of Life! What is 2 hours a day worth to you. So what if you overpay for the building, you will never recover the 2 hours a day. Go for it!!!

bankrupty laws vary from state to state. you need to either contact a bankrupty lawyer in the state where you live or do a specific search for the bankrupty laws of your state.

I have just a year left until i get my degree. I love acting and cannot imagine not doing it as a career..but it is very hard and money does not actually come enough to pay rent, etc. When i graduate i dont know if i should start going to audtions and try and pursue acting..but at the same time..cannot get a job in business because auditions are time consuming. I’m afraid that if acting doesnt work out and i decide to find a job in Business in a few years that i would not get hired because of lack of experience and few years not working after graduating. PLEASE HELP
Answer by mnm313
Odds are against you with acting. (not saying that you can’t make it!) I would go with business for now. Get established…sock some money away. Then if you really want to persue it, you will at least have a cushion. I would still stay with my day job though… Good luck!

Because as long as you have debt, you aren’t really investing. You’re just hanging on to money that you really owe to others.

Should bloggers pay city’s 0 business tax?
The good news for bloggers in Philadelphia – even those raking in the princely sum of a year – is that there’s not a secret team in the basement of City Hall reading your Web site and looking to hit you up for taxes and business fees.

I’m a high school student (senior) and I want to open a bakery one day. I want to take courses that will help me manage my business to the best of my ability. I’m taking accounting and personal finance this year. But I don’t know if i should take small business instead. Those are the three business classes offered at my school. accounting, small business (business development), and personal finance. Which two should I take to best manage a bakery???? Help and Advice is Very Much Appreciated.
Answer by A Dad
I have no idea what exactly is taught in each of the classes you talk about so it’s impossible to give you a quality answer that I’d be truly happy with but I will answer your question based on the titles alone and then explain my thinking. Then you can make the final decision, of course.
My suggestion is to substitute the small business for the personal finance course. Business development and accounting are two subjects that anyone should without a shadow of a doubt learn about to start any business.
Personal finance? A business course? Sure, the information you’d learn will help you manage your money but not a bakery near as much as the other two. If you’re a frugal kinda guy, you can skip the personal finance course for now. You won’t need to get sophisticated in personal finance to start and manage a bakery. Your parents should be able to teach you everything you need to know concerning personal finance to enable you to manage the finances of a bakery. At least until you start making hundreds of thousands of dollars and don’t know what to do with it all. But then if you have lots of extra money laying around, I’m sure you’ll have no trouble finding ways to use it well if you keep your bakery’s best interests in mind.

We are in our fourth month operation in the internet cafe. Should I transfer to another location with lower monthly rent because our rent is too expensive even if we have a one year leasing contract with the building owner? But to transfer is also costly because we have to pay the two months deposit and one month advance. Aside from this we have to spend for another renovation when we transfer to another business address. What would be the best thing to do?

As above, We have started self-employment business (photography), it was registered on her name, as I had another full time job and in free time was managing accounts, designing and maintaining website, orders, etc.
Should I put that info on my CV? in what section, for I’m not sure if it can go to work exp. as she was not my employer by any means. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

your work experience should include non paid work or help for others, whether paid or not, and that should include help given to your wife business

i do not want to invest in a stock market. what other ways can i invest my money to make money? business? i dont have experience in that, just looking for ideas to make money with the money i have. any ideas?
Answer by QwithboldnessSpeakwithoutFear
Bonds, options, and commodities are other vehicles for making money. But If your not considering the stock market or business, I’m thinking these probably won’t appeal to you either. You could also invest in precious metals (gold or silver coins for example) but that’s more of a method of preserving your capital as opposed to making money.

I was doing business at one point. I was really demotivated by lack of degree breadth and low teaching quality; the rest of the students there were picked on presentation basis (and despite my modest qualifications, I was actually the most academically apt there.) I dropped out after a year. I say, if it is business you’re really into, do pursue it, but do be warned that some faculties are worse than others.

I’m looking to have a CPA do my small business tax return. I have an S corp and I’m in Florida so it’s only the Federal return. I’ve heard anywhere from 0 to 00. I just don’t know.
I have an S corp. I’m the only shareholder and the only employee. I have a home office. I have just a computer, a printer, some software and office supplies to deduct. I pay my cpa 0 a quarter and he wants 00 just for the corporate tax returns. Is this about right?
Answer by jseah114
The cost can vary greatly. It depends on the complexity of the return (do you have a lot of depreciable assets, etc.) and whether it is a “shoebox return” where you just have a bunch of receipts and it is up to the CPA to do the bookkeeping work for you in order to get an income statement and balance sheet together. The less work the CPA has to do to get your stuff into shape to be reported on a tax return, the cheaper it will be.

I am starting a small cleaning business and I was told that I would be sent a form at the end of the year to pay business tax? Does anyone have the slightest idea how much this would be so I can put back every week to pay this at the end of the year? I live in Tennessee.
Answer by Moonsong
Your payments to the IRS are due quarterly. A solid estimate is 20% of revenues. The IRS will fine you if you do not file quarterly and assess penalties if you wait until the end of the year.
At year end, you will file your revenues, expenses and profits, then pay taxes on the profits to the Fed and State.

Hi,
Can anyone give me a general idea of what I might expect to pay an accountant to file my business tax return? What are the typical hourly rates in central NC? A rough idea of how many hours it would take to file for a 1 person consulting business with an automated payroll? I know there are a lot of variable here, any general info would be helpful.
Thanks for the input.
Answer by tro
if you have all the information needed to input the tax return it should be no more expensive than an ordinary return
however, if you are having the accountant do your business bookkeeping, whatever the hourly rates are there you can expect to pay prior to the actual return

If corporation have no business at all (no income, no salaries, no assets, no employees & etc) should it file federal income tax? and if yes – what is penalty for sending form 1120 after Apr-15?
Answer by STEAKMO
C Corps are required to file a tax return whether or not they have taxable income unless they are tax exempt. Corp returns are actually due March 15th, not April 15th.
The minimum penalty for a return that is over 60 days late is the smaller of the tax due or 0.
