i work at an insurance business, but nothing like sales men or any of that nature. i just mail stuff, print things, email, scan alot, fax to others and answer the phone when its busy? what is my job title? i would like to know.

It usually depends on how much you invest. For example, say two of your friend put in 0 each and now you come along and put in, say, 0. In that case, you should get (0 / ,200) of the profits, or about 17%.
If you also put in 0, then you are all equal parents and you should get 33% of the profits.
I’m a college freshman and my declared major is currently Business/Marketing, however I’m not crazy about a lot of the business classes I have to take and I talked to my advisor who told me that might be a sign that I should change my major. But a friend told me today that he knows someone who graduated with a communications degree to go into advertising but preference was sometimes given to business/marketing people. So is communications as good as B/M?

That was the same problem i had when I started college. I am a communication mayor and I am focusing in PR with a minor in Marketing, that took off a lot of the math classes for marketing. If you want to focus on advertising make sure you have a lot of digital imaging classes. Also if you can get a second language to focus on and maybe even do an internship with that right there will open a lot of doors. Try to get involve in your school’s news paper and learn how to write well, and work with their advertising.
All of these have been advises from grad students, professors and personal experience. Try talking to people on the field or your teachers, unfortunately advisors are sometimes clueless.

To get your foot in the door, consider interning at a local agency. This will help you see from the inside if the hours and work are something you can handle. It’ll also give the agency a platform to see your talent (assuming you have some). It will basically tell you if this is something worth your time or if you need to go in a new direction.

Technically you only need a brokers liscense, no degree. My university, however, offers a Real Estate Degree.
I am currently majoring in accounting and am going to law school to become a tax lawyer. But I would like to return to my hometown after completing school – my town has about 40-50,000 people. I would obviously not be able to work for a big business/corporation in a town like that, but I still would like to be a tax lawyer.

I’m a one-person consulting company in the US. I performed consulting work for a company in Germany, all done remotely. They direct deposited to my business bank account in the US once the work was completed. Do I pay federal taxes on that income? I assume yes, but is it treated any different from if that company was in the US?
Also, how in the heck do I figure out the amount of federal tax on my income? The FICA, etc., etc.? I have the IRS booklet on it, but I can’t figure it out. Thank you!

Yes you pay tax on income “from whatever source derived”.

Get some help. You have a lot of deduction you can take againsst the income and reduce your self-employment taxes.
As a small business, I’m finally getting around to looking at business insurance. God forbid I should get sued, but that would be the only reason I would get insurance at this point.
If I get sued (assuming I did nothing wrong that would terminate coverage), what are my responsibilities with regard to paying legal fees? What role will the insurance company play or what control will they have in the litigation process?

Your liability insurance carrier would be in total control of the litigation process. They would decide whether to settle, go to court, etc. without any input from you. They would also pay all defense costs.
